Impact to Services: COVID-19
Beginning Sunday, March 15, 2020, all in-person worship services, group meetings, and activities were suspended at Good Shepherd in accordance with guidance received from Brian Cole, bishop of the Diocese of East Tennessee, and the Centers for Disease Control guidelines to curtail public gatherings. These measures are made in an effort to slow or stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Beginning July 12, 2020, our onsite, in-person Sunday services have resumed with several important changes. The church office is closed to the public but appointments may be made to meet with any of our clergy or staff members. Small groups and activities are still meeting online. Beginning the week of September 7, 2020, our in-person mid-week services have resumed and are meeting in the church. Socially distanced seating is provided and masks are required. In addition, the Wednesday evening Eucharist service is livestreamed to our Facebook page.
We are following the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing, mask wearing, temperature checks via infrared thermometers, and have reduced the maximum capacity of our church sanctuary to 85 people maximum. Because of this, we are asking people to register each week for the in-person Sunday service they wish to attend. To register one for one of the services, please contact the church office at (423) 821-1583 and speak with Nicole or Sandra. You may also email Sandra to register.
Our updated weekday schedule, including online offerings, can be found below. If you prefer to continue watching our services online during this pandemic, our Daily Office is still taking place on our Facebook page. Sunday services are simulcast on our Facebook page, YouTube channel, and are also available each Sunday on our Church Today page here on our website. A full schedule of online services and activities is available on our COVID-19 update page.
